The gym is for guys…

Tired of having traumatic gym experiences…

Have a Zen Moment

So you have an entire closet full of clothes, and now you need your best body to rock them properly. There comes a time when a Diva will rip through her closet trying on several outfits to get the full package look she is going for. Often she will look in the mirror with an unforgiving eye and be uber critical of each and every flaw. If this has happened to you, you might have considered getting on the stair-stepper and working it out.

But before you buy your gym membership, think about all the other options that are out there. Gym memberships are expensive. You have to get your workout clothes on and get looking presentable. You have to expose yourself to the germy treadmill some old guy has sweated all over. You have to breathe everybody else’s CO2. Most likely you will have some gross guy, that could be a member of the cast of Jersey Shore, staring at your ass. Often, it is not the most pleasant experience. Some women go and can’t even figure out which weight machine is going to give her the desired results she is so desperately hoping to achieve. Or even worse, you could actually be bulking yourself up, which on many women is just unflattering.

If you want to get sexy in your workout clothes and run the elliptical while making gooey eyes at some of the attractive men, then go for it. The gym is an excellent meat market. But if you want to look smoking hot in your bikini, you may be taking the wrong approach all together. Consider at home workout DVDs as an effective and affordable alternative. Often you can order great DVDs used on Amazon for only a dollar. You don’t have to have the sexiest workout clothes; you don’t have to drive anywhere, and you won’t have to expose yourself to some nasty guy’s sweat. These DVDs are often made by the same personal trainers who train celebrities. The moves in the DVDs are made for women and all their problem areas.

Research has shown that in order to see the best results, you should peruse a variety of methods (i.e. yoga on Mondays Pilates on Tuesdays). If you just go to the gym and do your usual workout, you are not getting the results in the fastest most effective manner. Some of my personal favorite at home DVDs are Hit the Spot Pilates by Denise Austin, Fit to Strip by Carmen Electra and the Goddess Workout. I just ordered the Bikini Bootcamp.

If you have an at home workout dvd that really works the problem areas then post your suggestions. We would love to hear them. I will keep you posted on the Bikini Bootcamp, which per consumer reviews, is suppose to really work your body while keeping you slender and toned.

Here are some suggestions for a great workout without the gym membership.

  1. Workout DVDs
  2. Volunteer to walk dogs at your local shelter
(great resistance training and good karma)
  3. Hike up a mountain
(this will work the thighs, get you out of the house and give you a satisfying sense of accomplishment)
  4. Go swimming in your local pool.
(Swimming is an awesome full body workout and water has more resistance than air)
  5. Go Rollerblading at the beach or your local park.
(This is awesome for the back of the thighs)
  6. Sign up for a self-defense class
(You can meet cute guys, get a sweaty workout and save your life)

If you have other suggestions that have worked great for you, post a comment. It’s okay for a Diva to share a secret with her fellow females, so help a sista out and post a comment. Your secret’s “safe” with us. *wink* *wink*

Good Luck and may creativity be with you!
